      His best friend

Who says that love has an age limit? Sure, I'm only 17 and have the rest of my life ahead of me, but love has been bitter-sweet to me thus far. This guy, we'll call him Rob, and I met in tenth grade through a mutual friend. After cheerleading practice, I went to go see my best friends tennis match. Rob was there also, watching his girlfriend play. Now, this didn't really bother me because I didn't know him. As time progressed, he broke up with his girlfriend and we began seeing more and more of each other.

Being as stubborn as I am, I refused to admit to myself that I was falling for him. I ignored the small tickles and cuddles and pecks on the cheek. Finally, a close friend opened my eyes and showed me how much we really cared for each other. It was too little too late. We spoke about it and came to the conclusion (well, at least he did) that we couldn't begin a relationship. His reasoning was that we'd become good friends and he didn't want to take the chance of ruining what we'd built. Tears rolled down my cheeks as he said these words, but I refused to let him know. I agreed with him telling him he was right and that we were just great as friends. In my heart, I knew differently.

Well, we're still doing great as friends, but every time I look at him, or he grabs my hand, or I hear his voice, I fall for him all over again.
