Co-worker

I fell for a guy at work whose last name happens to be the same as mine. We had great chemistry and really long conversations, I think one lasted for 12 hours from 9 pm to 9 am. Everyone at work thought he liked me and we were both teased constantly, but it turned out that he has a GF in Canada (he admitted that their relationship was strained because of the distance).
Anyways, after about 1.5 years of not knowing how he felt, I asked him if he thought there was something there. He said that he just likes to have long conversations with me. And he apologized if I thought something was there. I told him that we should not continue the long conversations because of the teasing at work and that we shouldn't be friends, and he looked at me like I killed his dog or something. He didn't give the response I was looking for.
I still talk to him, but not as much as before, maybe a couple of times a month for a few minutes. I try and keep it short and sweet. I threatened to quit and he says don't because I'm up for a promotion, blah, blah, blah. Everyday going to work I pray that I don't have to see him or talk to him. It's weird because he had everyone fooled, but I guess he likes me a lot as a friend. I never cheated, and neither did he, but things were def. not normal between us. He had his chance and eventually one day I'll move on.
